What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’” (Mark 13:37)
With the passing of the Thanksgiving holiday all eyes turn toward Christmas. Here in South Louisiana, the climate drifts from damp and dreary to cool and crisp and then back again. Bright rose colored camellias will come to life very need the halfway point of Advent. God’s subtle artwork is there to remind us of the shifting liturgical year.
The Gospel of Mark verse 13:37 gives us a not so gentle reminder of how we should spend our time during this beautiful season of love. This time is more than just celebrating and spending time with family and friends. Advent is our opportunity to reflect on the birth of Christ and the gift of hope and joy which flows from His coming.
We are also reminded of His second coming. Jesus tells us that we are to be watchful and prepared at all times. He will come again in all His glory. Be watchful, be prepared.
God is good!
JMJ, pray for us.
