Hurricanes Harvey and Katrina

One comment

Today is the twelfth anniversary of hurricane Katrina.  In the aftermath of Katrina hundreds of thousands of lives were changed forever. Now we look to the people of Houston, Corpus Christi, Rockport and other towns in Texas whose lives are now changed forever. The effect without reliance on God and the helping hand of His earthly servants could be devestating.

In a few weeks the media will move on to another “story” and people will go about their lives pushing this disaster to the backs of their minds. Yet, the citizens of Texas will still need our help. We must not forget

Yesterday I heard an official from Texas say, “The government cannot do it alone. We need the help of individuals.”

This is a simple and profound truth.

We must help the people of Texas and we must help each other!  We must stop relying on the government and rely on God and each other. The people can effect profound change and good without the interference of the government. However, the government is nothing without the people.

This lesson is not just for times of major disasters. We look around and see our fellow humans in need: homeless, jobless, crisis pregnancies, disabilities and more. Take the time to reach out and help somebody.

“We the people…”

God is good.

JMJ, Pray for us.
