Where is Truth?

Society these days is woefully abandoning both truth and the Truth. But the reality is that if we do not have truth of either kind, we do not have a civilized society. This kind of abandonment of truth and the Truth will inevitably result in the world falling further into chaos.

Each day, as we step out into the world, our basic human drive seeks to find both truth and the Truth of God – Jesus Christ. Our soul knows that truth with a small t is the divine light of God the Father that is written in the hearts of all people from their very moment of conception. And our souls long for such truth, no matter how much some may continue to deny this basic fact, because both truth and the Truth are the basis of love and the moral foundation on which we can make decisions every day.

But what is truth?

Truth is a natural response to our surroundings, which if accepted calls us to stand up and be counted as followers of the One, True and Triune God. When called by Truth Himself, we either respond or reject the call as standing still, in and of itself, is rejecting God the Father.

It is truth that defines the value of each soul whom God has allowed to be placed on this earth and such truth can be found in the dignity of our own humanity, as well as in the humanity of each person. Looking into the eyes of an innocent child, for example, you will often see the gleaming spark of life, from which we can easily understand the response of God’s love working in their heart. This is the bright light of sanctity – the sanctity to which the Truth calls each and every person.

Forever the joy!

These days, as we look at the motion of the world shaken by the earthquake of humanity's wholesale rejection of the Truth, who will set aside their own agendas and desires and proceed to stand up for Him? As the blood of Christ flows from His Sacred Heart, washing all of us – believers and non-believers – clean of our sins if we so desire, who is willing to stand up for Him and be counted? When the Lord calls each one of us, where shall we find Him? Where shall we find the Truth?

But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim 3:15).

God is good!

JMJ, pray for us,
